Sonate

Sonate just saw the vet and he does have straight line vision in his left eye. He lacks side vision, but he is not totally blind in his eye, as we originally thought!  Sonate is being ridden and taken on trails regularly and his foster moms say he is ready for his forever home.

When we put his elf hat on he stood very still and was very curious about the hat and wanted to play with it. He loved having his picture taken and loves to be groomed!  Sonate was ridden in the program for the first time the last week of December and he behaved himself for his rider.  He takes the bridle very well and drops his head and goes to work. He made his rider work for it at the beginning of his test ride, but as he has only been ridden in the program once so far, he likely just needs to remember his work ethic.  He has a little trouble with one lead, possibly due to the partially blind eye, but also possibly due to lack of training.  For what he has been through we are highly impressed with Sonate!  We are taking adoption applications NOW and we do have a great video available for interested parties.  E-mail the admin for a copy.

Sonate's Story:

Sonate came to us from the St. Martin Parish Animal Shelter.  He was very underweight and lacks side vision in his left eye.  He is very kind and gentle, with an illegible lip tattoo so we don't know exactly who he was before he came to be in this condition.  He is around 12-14 years old.  See his before and after photos to note his progress given the love and care he deserves. Sonate could really use a sponsor so we can get him in great condition and test him as a riding horse within the program.  That will help us to find him the very best home possible.

*Sonate has made a remarkable recovery thanks to our friends at Equine Health & Performance, who have provided him with the nutrition he needed to bounce back.  Please join us in thanking our generous sponsors and ask how they can help make your horse the best (s)he can be?
